Facebook’s success in the gaming space over the past year has been stunning, and it will likely continue to be a social gaming juggernaut for at least the next year or so. That’s why it’s hardly surprising to find out that Sony has just announced the release of its first Facebook game, PoxNora.

The turn-based strategy card game launched in 2006 as browser-based MMO, and since Sony acquired it in 2009, it’s racked up an impressive 2.5 million registered users.

“With the launch of PoxNora for Facebook,” said president of Sony Online Entertainment, John Smedley, "we are leveraging the expertise SOE has gained bringing entertainment to the online gaming community for over 10 years.”

PoxNora is free to play, but it puts a heavy emphasis on micro-transactions, not unlike other popular Facebook games like Farmville and Mafia Wars.
